Hillsborough: Seapatrick	son of Trevor Hill; succeeded his father in 1742; 1st Marquis of Downshire: paid for St Malachy’s church 1773; inherited much of Sir Marmaduke Whitechurch's estate through the Trevor family; he laid out much of the town of Banbridge; in 1767 obtained a patent to hold weekly fairs in Banbridge; Wills Hill (1718-1793) was probably the most powerful, prosperous and energetic of all the Marquises of Downshire. He rebuilt not only the church (1773) but also the fort (c.1760) and the market house (c.1780) and planned a new Hillsborough Castle, which was completed after his death. He also managed the family's widely scattered estates and was Secretary of State for the Colonies in 1774, at a bad period of Anglo-American relations; he died on 7 October 1793 aged 75 and was buried in the family vault beneath the south transept; he is commemorated in a fine marble bust in the porch, which was given to the church by the seventh Marquis in 1924.
